Gabriele "Cap" Zingaro
I have been fishing exclusively with fly for many years by choice, but I have been a fisherman for thirty years now and have practiced many techniques. I started tying flies right away, becoming passionate about both fishing and fly construction. I am a blogger and YouTuber, very active on social media, and for over ten years I have been collaborating with magazines, thematic channels, and some of the most important Italian and international companies, working as a promoter and product development consultant, while also offering fishing guide services during the best season. I organize courses and workshops on fly fishing and fly tying across Italy, especially in Rome, where I live and have my base of operations. I regularly compete in both fly fishing and fly tying competitions with good results, even at the European level. I enjoy targeting trout, but I also fish for pike and other predators, including saltwater species; I have traveled extensively around the world to broaden my experience and I like to challenge myself in new situations on rivers and lakes to improve as a fisherman. At the vise, I mix synthetic and natural materials in the pursuit of simplicity and maximum effectiveness on the water, while on the river I switch from nymph to dry fly without forgetting the streamer with great ease, trying to interpret the situations that require a different technique each time. I love fly fishing and despite logging many outings during the year, every time I catch and release a fish I get excited as if it were the first time... this gives me the right energy to always commit to the fullest to achieve results that can gratify me. My nickname "Cap", by which I am known in the industry, comes from the fact that several years ago I obtained the title of "IGFA Captain", which led friends and acquaintances to call me that over time. I love sharing my passion for this sport and whenever I can, I try to engage with both more and less experienced fishermen because I believe there is always something to learn.
Luca Barosselli
Since childhood, I have practiced various fishing techniques, and in 2010 I took up fly fishing. The bond with this discipline has been very strong, becoming my true and only passion. A year later, thanks to the help of some veterans, I approached fly tying, trying my hand at building classic and modern flies. With dedication and the right advice, I always try to improve, constantly acquiring new knowledge and refining my tying technique. All of this has pushed me deeper into this magical world, particularly toward the Italian style, better known as "Italian Style", born from the great pioneer Francesco Palu. I collaborate with my casting instructor Massimo Magliocco, handling the fly construction part in various articles published in magazines. I am a member of the "Fly Fishing 360" group. In 2015, I tied with my friend Diego Riggi at the Forli fair for "Dressing Italiano", also attending the Vicenza fair in 2016 at the "Fly Fishing 360" corner. The following year I was also at the Pescare Show at the same fair, as a tyer at the "Fly Tying Experience" thanks to Fabio Federighi, my mentor and friend. At that very edition, I received the annual award from "Stonfo" organized by the magazine "La Pesca Mosca e Spinning". Subsequently, I joined the "Gulff" pro team where I established a collaborative relationship with several international tyers; I am also a member of the "Greygoose" Club in Bereguardo where I meet periodically with friends to share our passion. My flies range from traditional to more modern ones, using every type of material without any limitations. I fish Italian and foreign waters, full of challenges and difficulties, where I test my flies to the fullest. I am aware that I am only at the beginning of a long and difficult journey, confident of walking it while growing professionally with practice and dedication.

I have been fly fishing and tying since 1984. I was self-taught and from the very beginning, while not neglecting traditional fly fishing, I wanted to apply this technique to rivers, canals, and lowland waters to target Black Bass, Pike, Perch, and Chub. To this end, I created the X Flies, which reflect this "Alternative" vision of fly fishing that I have extended over the past fifteen years to include Catfish, Asp, Zander, and Carp. This special fishing journey also pushed me to tackle saltwater, fishing in "Alternative Fly Fishing" for Sea Bass, Bluefish, Barracuda, Little Tunny, Sharks, Mullet and more. My trademark is the design and construction of new imitations aimed at catching any fish species, thanks to the observation and study of what happens in the water. Over the past thirty years, I have collaborated with various companies in the industry, fly fishing magazines, and thematic television channels, participating in many fly tying competitions as a judge.
Cristian Caruso
It all began at the age of 11 when a great person I still call "the great Roby" showed me the world of fly fishing for the first time. Everything was unknown to me, from casting techniques to tying flies. It was magical, as magical as it was for me to see those lines whipping through the air, delivering flies, and the creation of artificial flies. The first casting attempts, the first tying attempts (ugly but they never smothered the desire to keep trying) and the first catch! My very first catch. I was trembling and incredulous that I had succeeded with my own imitation — it sent me over the moon... I could hardly believe it had really happened! That is how I fell in love with fly fishing. I began studying this passion in the best possible way and especially in the finest details. Growing up, I have always tried to improve but above all I have never stopped learning, because as we know, in life you never stop learning and around the corner there is always something new and special that enriches your personal experience. Whenever I could, I would always rush to the river to disconnect from the entire world and enter mine — the world of fishing. This passion, which over the years I have cultivated well, has allowed me to start writing for some fishing magazines, something truly gratifying for me as it fulfilled a dream I had since childhood. I also offer a "Fishing Guide" service in my area, accompanying people and trying to transmit what still remains magical to me! I believe there is nothing more beautiful than sharing this passion and what it makes you feel, just as it was for everyone the first time they were shown this magical world.
Paolo Ceccon
I am 37 years old, Italian by birth and a Swedish citizen since 2016. I live in Gothenburg with my wife and son, and have been here for 11 years. For 2 years I have been part of the Swedish National Fly Fishing Team, with which I participated in the 2017 World Championship in Slovakia and the 2018 World Championship in Italy. I started fly fishing and tying at the age of 14, thanks to the teachings of my father, in the alpine streams in the province of Turin, and since then I fell in love with this fishing technique, so ancient and at the same time so innovative. I mainly tie nymphs, streamers, and competition dry flies, but I also enjoy tying pike streamers and sea trout patterns, given the great presence of these two fish in Sweden. The beauty of fly fishing is that you never stop learning!
Dimitri Repele
I started fishing as a kid with ups and downs, trying a bit of every technique, and eventually arrived at the magical world of fly fishing, which captivated me right from the start. Over the years, I have tied classic dry flies, wet flies, and nymphs, but I remain captivated by streamers. I am currently president of the Brescia Fly Fishing Club.
Marco Clari
He started fishing as a child with his father and grandfather, especially in the large valley river, and later tried other techniques. About ten years ago, thanks to a friend who gave him a fly rod and reel, he decided to try this fantastic technique and was so fascinated by it that he never turned back, choosing it as his only fishing technique. He started fishing dry, but since he mostly frequents alpine streams, where dry fly fishing is productive only a few months a year, he decided to make the most of his fishing outings based on the conditions of the various streams, also using nymphs. After properly learning the casting technique, he began practicing so-called "Alternative Flyfishing", that is, fishing for many species of fish in both freshwater and saltwater. A few years after entering the world of fly fishing, he started tying flies, initially guided by his great friend and great tyer Fulvio Michelotti, whom he will never stop thanking. He began by tying classic dry flies, both American and European, which he initially used in his streams throughout Piedmont. Later, with the emergence of new tying techniques and new materials, he began to vary his construction style, employing new materials in the best possible way while always respecting the tying standards. He enjoys testing and constantly trying to improve his imitations, which he continues to experiment with in various rivers and streams in Italy and, occasionally, on fishing vacations abroad. Where fishing pressure is very high, catches are never guaranteed and the imitations are put to a tough test — a reason and stimulus to continue experimenting and modifying the artificials. Since 2016, with the launch of the website, he has been part of the team in the Dressing section of Flyfishing360. At the 2017 Vicenza fair, he tied at their Fly Tying Corner, and in subsequent years he took part in the Fly Tying Experience.
Oscar Hernández Moure
My name is Oscar Hernandez Moure, I was born in Spain in 1973 and I live in the north, in a wonderful region called Ribeira Sacra, where at the age of six I started fishing with my father. In the late 1990s, I discovered fly fishing, fascinated by the artificial flies I saw in shops and specialized magazines. It was at that moment that I began to tie my first flies, mainly caddis larvae and wet flies in the Leon style. Eager to learn in this new world, I started competing, where I was fortunate to share hours of river fishing with great fishermen and even better, great people. It was here, in competition, that my vision of fly tying would change forever. I enjoy all tying styles, but my obsession is efficiency and minimalism above everything else. Through my blog and social networks, I have shared my patterns, with the fortune of meeting great fishermen from different countries who have shown interest in my nymphs and have helped me test everything I create. I am very happy to be part of the Textreme team and I hope to give my best contribution.
Martin Westbeek
I am a passionate fly fisher and tyer who loves fishing for trout, sea trout, and grayling. I started tying in the 1980s, winning prizes in some fly tying competitions, and began tying at shows and demonstrations. In the meantime, I have become a regular tyer at fairs in Great Britain, Germany, Denmark, Belgium, and the Netherlands. I have also tied flies at fairs in the United States, Italy, and Sweden, and I give demonstrations at fly fishing clubs and shops. I am a member of the Whiting, Daiichi, and Swiss CDC pro teams. My flies have appeared in books, such as Leeson/Schollmeyer's "Tying Emergers" and Takahashi's "Modern Midges". Some of my flies are part of the Master's Collection at the Catskills Fly Fishing Museum in the United States.
Peter Steen
I have lived in the Salt Lake Valley in Utah for over 25 years, but I only started fly fishing about 8 years ago. I fish high-altitude streams and lakes throughout Utah and surrounding states, mainly targeting trout and occasionally grayling. My fly tying focus is on dry flies, small nymphs, and stillwater patterns. I enjoy combining natural and synthetic materials to create artistic yet functional patterns, attractive both to the fish and to the fly fisher.
Jarid Church
My name is Jarid Church and I grew up in the mountains of North Carolina. As a young man, I spent a lot of time fishing and then, around 15, I made a natural transition to fly fishing. Shortly after taking up fly fishing, I became interested in tying artificial flies. It was only after 2015, when I joined social media, that I started taking it more seriously. I began tying flies outside my comfort zone and trying to improve, not only in fly tying but also in photography. I mainly fish for trout, but I also enjoy fishing for perch.
Wes Penny
As a child, the love of fishing was instilled in me along the rivers of Kitimat, British Columbia, with abundant opportunities to fish for trout and salmon. Unfortunately, life circumstances kept me away from fishing for many years, but about 16 years ago I was reintroduced to fishing, specifically fly fishing, and I never looked back. I enjoy the rivers and streams of Vancouver Island, but my first love is lake fishing, particularly in the lakes of the Thompson, Okanagan, and Cariboo regions of British Columbia. I spent the last six years at Douglas Lake Ranch, enjoying its unique lake fly fishing opportunities, and I will return in the spring of 2021 to manage Stoney Lake Lodge, Minnie Lake, and other fishing and camping locations on the largest working cattle ranch in Canada. I became a passionate fly tyer, influenced by my lake fishing experience, and I am always looking for new and different ideas and techniques. I am excited to be part of the Textreme team and I look forward to sharing these exciting materials with you.
Guillermo López
My name is Guillermo Lopez, I am 33 years old, raised in Temuco, a city in southern Chile. Destiny brought me to Panguipulli, where I currently live with my family. Panguipulli is a mountain town where wild nature reigns supreme, the perfect place for a person like me. It is known as the "road of seven lakes", which allows me to enjoy privileged fishing locations — leaving home and being connected to the river in just a few minutes is priceless. I am a lucky man. Since childhood, I have always enjoyed fishing; it was one of my favorite pastimes. Today I can say that fly fishing has become my lifestyle. Fly tying represents my passion and my work, in which I have invested long hours of study and years to perfect my knowledge and techniques. I spend my days sitting next to the vise, tying and reliving every moment spent on the river, eagerly awaiting the moment I can return to the water. I am currently part of the Textreme, Gulff, and Dohiku pro teams. I have my own personal brand called "Guille Lopez Flies", where I showcase my flies, tying techniques, and entomology through my social networks. I consider myself a versatile tyer, building both classic and modern flies. My goal is to always continue growing as a fisherman and fly tyer, to become a great reference in my country. My aim is to promote and teach fly fishing, transmitting knowledge, skills, and abilities to those who want to embark on this wonderful adventure. One of my references is Ruben Martin, from whom I found inspiration. I was fortunate to learn from his knowledge, which pushed me to become who I am. Like my great friend Luciano Tomas Bacci, who has supported me from the beginning of my tying career.
Luigi Pietrosino
My name is Luigi Pietrosino, originally from the province of Foggia but adopted Biellese, and I am an extremely passionate fly fisherman. I got into fishing as a child, thanks to my father's great passion for it. From him I learned various techniques, both in fresh and saltwater, and above all, I absorbed the love for this fantastic world. Even as a child, I avidly read industry magazines, looking for useful tips to improve my technique and admiring the photos of the flies with instructions for their construction. When I first tried fly fishing, 26 years ago, I was immediately fascinated by it and since then I have dedicated myself passionately and exclusively to this technique, which I consider an art and a way of life. The transition from recreational to competitive fishing was quite casual. Initially, I participated in social competitions more for fun than for competition, but practically right away something clicked in me that transformed into a great passion for competition. My competitive path was anything but easy, but with total tenacity and dedication, I made it to my first Italian Championships and then to the Club Azzurro, eventually joining the ranks of the Italian National Fly Fishing Team, with which I won the team bronze medal at the 2018 World Championships held in Trentino Alto Adige at Comano Terme. Over the years, I have achieved 21 podiums in Italian championships in various disciplines, lake and stream, individual, pairs, and teams, including 10 Italian titles (2 individual, 2 pairs, and 6 teams), 7 second places (1 individual, 5 teams, and 1 pairs), and 4 individual third places. Many challenges still await me in fishing as in life — I will face them with the usual tenacity and dedication because the winner is simply a dreamer who never gave up (N. Mandela).
Frank Brassard
My name is Frank Brassard and I live in the heart of the Rocky Mountains of Alberta, Canada. When I am not fishing for trout, grayling, pike, or salmon, I tie flies to catch them. I discovered fishing late in my life. After many years of high-adrenaline sports such as rock climbing, ice climbing, skiing, and mountain biking, fly fishing became my way of continuing to discover new places and be in touch with nature. I have a tendency to completely immerse myself in new hobbies, which naturally led me to fly tying. Now I tie flies daily. It is a creative activity that approaches meditation and relaxation. It is becoming a continuous learning process of new techniques and experimentation with new products. Being a Textreme ProTeam member is an important step in this learning process.
Vladimir Glamocak
My name is Vladimir Glamocak. I live in Novi Sad, Serbia. Fly tying and fly fishing are my great passion. I fish European waters, from the northern parts of Sweden and Norway to the north of the Republic of Macedonia. My favorite rivers are in Bosnia, Croatia, and Slovenia. I am also a Pro Team member for SWISSCDC, GULFF, and RENOMED.
John Maduro
Hi, I am John Maduro, originally from Aruba, a Dutch Caribbean island. I have fished the sea my whole life. Only when I moved to Ireland 22 years ago was I introduced to fly fishing and I fell in love with it. Since I caught my first trout on a Bibio, I was hooked forever. I was also fascinated by the works of art I saw expressed in fly patterns and I knew it was something I wanted to learn. I invested in my first vise and a Veniard fly tying kit, and from there I started practicing for countless hours watching all these incredible fly tyers on YouTube and following step-by-step tutorials from the Fly-Tying Bible (a great book for any beginner). I fished rivers and lakes for many years here in Ireland, but the saltwater always called me back, so I decided to try saltwater fly fishing. Once I caught my first Bass on a fly, there was no going back. From there I started building saltwater patterns, which became my specialty. The species I mainly target are Bass, Sea Trout, and Pollock, but honestly any species I can catch from the shore with a fly. Some of my favorite patterns are Flat Wings, Baitfish, and shrimp patterns — I love tying and fishing them because they are very effective — and let's not forget the Clouser Minnows to which I add some flat wings. I am a Pro Team member of several well-known brands here in Europe and America; for more information about the teams I am part of, feel free to browse my social pages. As I always say: quality materials equal quality flies.
Cristian Ottonetti
I am an Italian fly fisher and tyer, 40 years old, currently working in Switzerland as an Architect. I have been practicing fly fishing since the late 1990s and for many years I was involved in fly fishing competitions, where I achieved several placements. The most important was certainly winning the Italian pairs championship in 2013, the same year in which, for various reasons, I also decided to stop competing. I am a member, committee member, and fly tying course coordinator of the Ticino Fly Fishing Club, and I am also a member of SIM Suisse. Due to my work, I spend a lot of time in Switzerland, so my fishing outings are mainly focused on these environments. I consider myself a very flexible tyer, who moves seamlessly from a large pike streamer to a tiny mayfly on a size 20, passing through nymphs and wet flies.
Gianluca Capizzi
I am Gianluca Capizzi and I was born in Cortona, Tuscany, in 1976. I have been fly fishing since 1995, mainly targeting grayling and trout. I love dry fly fishing but I practice all techniques. A few years ago, I became passionate about fly tying. In 2019, I participated in and won the sixteenth Bisenzio Trophy. I am part of the Ahrex and Gulff Fly Fishing Pro Teams. It is with great pleasure that I join the Textreme team and I hope to be able to give my contribution! Thank you for the trust!
Juan Diaz
My name is Juan Diaz and I grew up in Canada/Argentina, far from the world of fishing. It was not until recently that a dear friend took me to a river for the first time. I was hooked! After losing every fly I purchased on every outing, I decided it would probably be more convenient to tie my own. Well, here I am — obsessed is an understatement. Being a very competitive person, I constantly find myself pushing my limits to be the best I can be and to tackle any challenge that comes my way!
Juan Torres
Hello! My hobby of tying flies started a few years ago and I discovered that I love tying flies! I enjoy using materials to perfect my personal tying style. I try to tie as often as possible and am constantly working to become a better tyer. I am Prostaff for many great companies. I also love the community of fly tyers I have met on social media, on the water, and at shows. Besides tying in my spare time, I enjoy fly fishing, deep sea fishing, hunting, and spending time with my family. Find me on Instagram @fliesbykino.
Bob Mac Donald
It is with great enthusiasm that I join the Textreme team. Now, in my 48th year of tying, my experience in creating the many fly patterns that come off my vise, using only the best materials, leads to quality and durable fly production. Textreme is a company that ensures the tyer has products that are not only of the highest quality, but also provide a wide range of threads, floss, tinsels, and other products that tyers look for, and that most other companies do not offer from their product line. At the age of 12, I started tying only trout flies and then moved on to tying salmon flies. After over ten years of tying these types of flies, I began exploring full-dressed salmon fly tying. This allowed my imagination to run free in my creativity, as I also started tying freestyle salmon flies. Most of the full-dressed/freestyle salmon flies are conceived as display flies and are featured in various magazine articles and books, as well as online platforms. I have expanded my work by tying various styles of saltwater and freshwater predator flies. These streamers are hollow/deceiver-style flies, made with natural hair and flash. The surf candy style fly incorporates the use of UV resins for greater realism. I look forward to any questions and comments regarding my tying and the use of Textreme products used in my flies. Tight Lines, Bob
Jamie Pike
Jamie started tying flies while stationed in a small community in Newfoundland as a paramedic in 2007. Sixteen years later, his expertise has proven him among the best fly tyers in Canada. Jamie specializes in Atlantic salmon flies (classic singles, doubles, and shrimp patterns). Jamie also enjoys showcasing his talents in spun deer and caribou hair flies, as well as bomber flies. You will also find Jamie's talent in a wide variety of sea trout, freshwater trout, and predator flies.
